Collect up to nine plush toys and dive into an immersive web-based augmented reality experience at select Burger King locations!
Time to feast! Rovio Entertainment has once again teamed up with the Burger King® brand, this time bringing Angry Birds plush toys to King Jr. meals alongside an immersive new augmented reality (AR) experience. Now through May 31, Burger King guests visiting participating restaurants in locations across the globe can access the web-based AR experience by scanning a QR code inside Burger King restaurants and on items such as plush toys and meal packaging.
After scanning the code with their phone, guests select a virtual Angry Birds plush based on the toys included with King Jr. meals. Players then use their phone’s camera to position the character’s nest, which contains three eggs that must be protected at all costs! Tap away mischievous hatchlings, launch catapults of slime, and unlock power-ups to blow away enemies and keep the nest safe. When it’s all done, players can save a photo of their experience to share with friends and family. Try it for yourself here with your phone!
The AR experience is built with Zappar’s WebAR technology, which seamlessly integrates physical Burger King locations with the digital world of Angry Birds, all without the need for any apps or downloads! The initiative continues Rovio’s commitment to augmented reality experiences, marking its first ever consumer products WebAR experience.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Zappar and Burger King to create this unique AR experience for Angry Birds fans,” said Katri Chacona, Director, Brand Licensing at Rovio Entertainment. “The accessibility of WebAR and wide availability across thousands of Burger King locations make this an incredible opportunity to connect with consumers in new ways.”
Participating regions include the US, EMEA, APAC and LaTam. The campaign runs through May 31 in most regions and from May 10 to June 20 in the US and Canada.
